Stitches and Staples and Wires, Oh My!

Henry is stitched, stapled, and wired up and doing well!  He is still very sedated from the procedure, but this one big step forward has been made.  Once he wakes up, the focus will be on: getting him off of the ventilator, weaning him off of meds, and starting bottle feeding again.  So, prayer please that his body will be strong and adapt to these changes smoothly.  Prior to surgery, Henry was doing a great job of starting breaths and letting the ventilator finish them, which is a goodindicator of how he should do once they are ready to take him off the ventilator.  But to be cautious we must be aware that he has been on the ventilator and feeding tube for a considerable amount of time and therefore may take a little while to "remember" how to do these things on his own.  He doctors and nurses have told David & Dana that it is up to Henry now.  He has proven to be a strong little guy up to this point, so our prayers are that he will continue to be.

And in the spirit of the season, David said that the staples came just in time for Halloween.  Here's to hoping they are able to dress Henry up a little bit for some good baby's first Halloween photos!
