An email update from (Great) Aunt Pam

Hi All

I just got wonderful news for the first time in 48 hours from Diana.    They have successfully weaned him from the tube and he is breathing on his own with oxygen.  The doctors have told the kids that all organs are present but items that belong on the left side of your body are on this baby’s right side and vice a versa but everything is connected correctly.  They are not worried at this time about the holes in the heart because that is the only way the blood is getting oxygen is by mixing until they can do the procedure.  They are planning on doing a heart catheter on him Tuesday to see what the holes look like.   After they put the new blood vessel that will route the blood through the heart correctly in then they will look at what repairs are needed on the holes but that by all images at this time they should be able to be repaired.  He will need the vessel that they put into his chest changed out several times through out his life as he grows.   He will probably have the surgery the end of next week (which I would like to be there) and home within two weeks if everything keeps going well.

Ruth  was sitting somewhere and ran into a young lady who over heard her talking to Dale about the new grand baby and started asking questions.  So Ruth shared the disease with this young lady and she smiled and said he’s at the best place to be and that everything will be ok based off what we just learned.  Ruth looked strange and the young lady said "I’m 18 years old and I have the exact thing as your grandson, and I have had to have 3 surgeries and I’m able to do everything that my friends can do".

God puts people in the right place at the right time to help us understand and deal with the circumstances that he has dealt us.  I think God was seeing that the family couldn’t deal with any more and provided us with some news, and who would have ever dreamed this young lady would be at the right place at the right time.  I have always loved the Foot Prints in the sand poem and I think this shows how God carries us when we think we can not handle anything more.   We have had so many people around the world praying for this beautiful baby and I think the pray chain is working.

For the first time since Wednesday night heard relief in Diana’s voice, and everyone’s in the background.  God doesn’t push us past what he thinks we can handle, it’s hard to believe but I think this is a good example of the power of God.
