Henry & Great Grandpa Dale

Henry,

Hooray! You had a pretty good day today.   Your blood pressure is staying steady, heart rate is coming down just a little bit, and you are pottying (sorry, had to say it again).  Hope you have another good day tomorrow.

Your Great Grandpa Dale has also been in the hospital since just a little after you were born (he did get to meet you first).  When he got to the hospital, he told his nurses all about you, his first great-grandchild.  He has confidence in you "Henry will be fine, Henry David is a good strong name."  About the time that you had surgery, Great Grandpa Dale started having a really hard time breathing right.  While you were still sleepy after surgery, Great Grandpa Dale's doctors made him sleepy too and hooked him up to some machines to help him be more peaceful, just like you.  And now today, we hear that you are starting to wake up a little bit and so is Great Grandpa Dale!  We wonder if you two have been passing eachother when you were both sleeping: did he get to hold you, hug you, tell you jokes?

We have all been remarking about the things you and GGpa Dale have in common: you have matching PICC lines, his heart gives him trouble too, he has lots of doctors trying to make him better.  But I really hope you have a lot more in common with GGpa Dale than that.  Because that stuff is such a small part of him.  He is a very special man.  I have only known him for a few years, so your dad, Uncle Danny, Great Grandma Ruth, Granny Nanny, Papa Don, and your great aunts, uncles, and cousins will be the people to tell you all the really good stories about him.  Because GGpa Dale won't tell you about himself.  That is just not the kind of man he is.  But, I can tell you this: GGpa Dale is definitely the kind of man you would want to be like when you grow up.  Strong, smart, unselfish.  Easy to love and admire.  Good sense of humor.  Strong faith.  He doesn't talk a lot, but when he does, you want to listen.  We really love him & you too.

Praying to get good news about both of you tomorrow.

Love you,

Aunt Kelli
